Baby Bargains Review

"Reprinted with permission from BABY BARGAINS book, by Denise & Alan Fields (Windsor Peak Press, $19.95). Web: www.BabyBargainsBook.com

PatchKraft®, Inc. Call (800) 866-2229 or (973) 340-3300 for a dealer near you. Web: www.patchkraft.com. PatchKraftâ has one of the best web sites of any bedding manufacturer. They have done a terrific job of showcasing their extensive bedding line with clear thumbnails and enlargements that even include a swatch of fabric in many case. While there is no substitute for feeling the fabric first-hand, the site helps you picture how these well made, 100% cotton bedding collections look in real life. Besides the web site, we were also impressed with PatchKraftâ owner Paula Markowitz's commitment to safety. All their bumpers feature ties on the top and bottom and the company provides detailed safety and care instructions to its costumers. We also liked the fact that PatchKraftâ has eliminated the comforter from some of its sets (instead, they substitute a flannel blanket; the quilt is now an optional accessory). You do have to pay for all that quality at prices ranging from $330 up to $880 for a four-piece set, but it is a good brand if you want to splurge. Most designs are in the $380 to $400 range. New this year you'll see some lightweight velour fabrics and flannels among the patchwork designs. They've also added a wallpaper line in addition to borders. Our only gripe: we wish PatchKraft®had more entry-level options below $300. Despite that criticism, we'll give them our highest rating based on safety, quality and design. Rating: A
